One Man's superstition is another man's religion!
"There is a legend!" I said. "As long as the waters of the tank in a particular temple are brackish and dark, the problem in Kashmir remains unsolved, so the Kashmiris believe!" I said. "Ah that is just superstition man!" said my smug friend. It made me realize, how one person's superstition is another person's religion. If one were to study Indian history, one will be aware that what is demonic behavior like rape, plunder and pillage for one religion becomes holy war to please their God for another.
If one were to see the history of the world, most wars start with an idea. An idea with which the collective consciousness of many dullards are identified. All wars are first waged with words. And then when people cannot withstand the pain caused to their ego, then all hell breaks lose.
My friend seems to be a student of the Salafi bigot Zakir Naik. He speaks with the same ardor and illogical non sense to push the crap that he identifies with. I used to listen to him but observe his behavior at the same time. When the current regime came to power in India, he was most unhappy. Why people belonging to religions like/dislike one party from another is not clear to me. A bigot at heart can only behave that way. He tries to peddle all the lies that are spread against Modi and his cabinet of dedicated and hard working ministers. Having no other person to pit against Modi, this rabid bigot, takes up Kejriwal's name and says "At least he is doing something man!". I keep thinking, "hell yeah! He writes movie reviews and does "Modi" jap!" .
Our honorary Prime minister has earned the love and respect of not only patriots in our nation but also all the world leaders and people the world over. He get's a rock star reception everywhere and his dedication to the nation is unquestionable.
And yet, because our prime minister belongs to a party which is not "secular" according to Indian standards, a party that wishes to remove Article 370 in Kashmir, a party that wants to bring in Uniform civil code to all citizens (Oh how so communal!)
I was stunned to see that this 'friend' of mine goes looking for articles that point out that there is something wrong with our Prime Minister and his cabinet of ministers. And there is no dearth for such articles. He even tries to proselyte others. I tried once or twice to give him a piece of my mind, but then I felt, it would be like throwing a stone (Kashmiri style) at a mud puddle. You will end up getting dirty. Or the old adage, "which says never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down at his level and beat you " comes to my mind, and I think it is better to avoid needless controversy.
But many are the people like this in my nation. Living here, eating our food and yet wishing ill for the nation, because they follow a religion that originated on foreign soil. Instead of emulating people like Dr.A.P.J.Kalam or the Param Vir Chakra Albert Ekka, they spew venom and are happy when our nation is in trouble and our PM fails to achieve something. They fail to realize that it is a loss for the nation.
They fail to realize that the ideas, their prejudices and their hate is a superstition which they have made their religion.
